BEING A MELKONIANTSI

Anybody should feel privileged for graduating from Melkonian, well, so do I! An Institution, which greatly contributed to the formation of my personality and also gave me the great pride and honour to carry the title of a Melkoniantsi for the rest of my life.

Being a Melkoniantsi is not merely a name, but also a combination of unique experiences, which enrich the teenage years of your life. At this school one is given the great opportunities for self-development not only on an academic but also on a personal level.

The small community of Melkonian is a contracted example of the Armenian reality today. The unique speciality of Melkonian is the coherence of the Armenian youth from different cultural backgrounds under a common Armenian roof. From each culture you learn something new and exciting, appreciate each other’s differences and compromise for the well being of everyone.

If I try to look back there’s a lot to remember- from sleepless nights when studying for external examinations to the suspense of being backstage and waiting to dance or sing for different occasions. The counting of days to receive the school’s periodical and read each and every single line written by your classmates and friends. The pleasant minutes spent on the benches, the misunderstandings and quarrels, the successes and disappointments… the list can go on. Every moment lived in this school will become a sweet memory.

Moments of separation are proclaimed for being times when mixed feelings arise, when one wonders if the past has been effective and successful, if anything has been missed out…

A lot will be missed out if such words cease from being uttered from the mouths of Armenian children who no longer will have the opportunity to call themselves a Melkoniantsi.
