We started off as just 3 individuals: a small circle working
from different corners of the globe. They are now the infamous
Central Committee.
From there onwards our resistance grew into a network of
networks. So we are organised Rhizomatically, as opposed
to hierarchically/ arborescently. What unites us is
the fact that we are hardcore Melkoniantsis; as well as
the utter Emergency of the situation. We care not
only for our school, but for the Diaspora as a whole.
YES, we all have our jobs, our kids, our problems,
our deadlines, but we choose to ACT NOW.
We choose to sleep less, to sacrifice our free time
and whatever energy is left, in order to set up a powerful
campaign and this website – so that YOU can choose to
ACT as well. We
commit OurSelves because what is at stake is OUR School,
OUR IDENTITIES, Our Home/Family, OUR Kids/Future, and OUR
HISTORY !!! …so
that future Great pedagogues of History like digin Bedikian
(God bless her soul) take pride in what they teach.
We are not extremists, militants, or what have you.
We are just a small action group who realises the full seriousness
of this situation, and our main advantage is our strong
commitment and unity on the crucial issues at stake. We
do not belong to any political parties, though we are very
politically motivated.
We
realise that at this point in history we are faced with
a turning point in the greater context of Armenian history,
and that whatever is the outcome of this crisis situation,
as far as Melkonian is concerned, things are not likely
be remain the same (for better or for worse).
What we fear most is that if AGBU decides to go ahead
with the sale/phasing out of Melkonian, this will cause
a sheer fury and deep divisions within the Armenian communities.
The AGBU, which is now the main unifying factor in
the Diaspora, will end up loosing a lot of credibility,
supporters and contributors. In the long run, this may mean
the end of the AGBU itself.
That is why WE STAND NEUTRAL and we do not
want to antagonise AGBU.
We do not want to exacerbate the internal divisions
and we do not want to cause panic.
We want to organise all Armenians and Melkoniantsis
and to enter into negotiations, that will hopefully lead
us to mutually beneficial resolutions.
But, some Facts are right there, and some of them
will have to be dealt with strictly and categorically.
Pin your ears back, our Melkoniantsi brothers and
sisters, our Armenian cousins and our members of extended
human family, yes… yes, this is a WAKE UP call: one of those
type of calls staying silent and irresponsive to which led
people toward catastrophes.
Remember! We
are in charge of our own histories, destinies and lives,
and we always do have a choice, though we tend to either
forget it or escape it. We realise that now we have a choice
So,
why should you get involved? Because if you don’t, maybe
20 years from now you might regret that you didn’t.
You might regret that you didn’t bother to do those
little things that could have collectively combined into
a triumphant victory, which would have insured Melkonian’s
permanent existence and its gradual return to its former
glory.
